Wahbi on picks and status
Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi defended his choices for the November camp squad, stressing that playing time at club level is not the only criterion, and that team chemistry, tactical plans and a player’s abilities are also key factors. He explained that Youssef En-Nesyri’s return could give the team an added dimension against Niger, and praised Noussair Mazraoui’s performances for the national side. Ouahbi said Brahim Díaz would like to play more for Real Madrid, but joins the national team with enthusiasm and that he is not concerned about his form. Morocco are preparing to face Niger on November 13 and 17 in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. Ouahbi also expressed optimism that Azzedine Ounahi, Ismael Saibari, Sofiane Rahimi and Ayoub El Kaabi would return before the tournament, with some possibly regaining full fitness by March, though he did not give a precise date.
