Portugal manager Jorge Jesus said he feels no guilt over Cristiano Ronaldo’s retirement from international football, stressing that he had no prior knowledge of the player’s decision and that Ronaldo remained part of his plans until he announced it. He added that he had expected Ronaldo to return but respected his decision, and denied contacting him after his retirement. The dispute followed Ronaldo’s departure from the national team’s camp in September without permission, an incident that led to a 30-day suspension. Ronaldo, meanwhile, accused the coach of breaking his promises and showing him no respect.
