Koeman announces Netherlands squad for 2026
Coach Ronald Koeman announced the Dutch national team's roster for the 2026 World Cup, which saw significant changes in the player selection policy. The selection was limited to players from the domestic league only, specifically Wout Weghorst and Gijs Tiel, representing the lowest number of major club players in the team's history. By narrowing the choices, several prominent defensive players were left out, and a player who has never before represented the senior national team, Crisensio Somervil, was called up to fill in for injured players. The squad consists of 26 players and heavily relies on players from major European clubs.
