Egypt's World Cup history with Netherlands draw and Salah's goal
The Egyptian national team is preparing to participate in the 2026 World Cup for the fourth time in its history. They will play their first two matches against Belgium and New Zealand, then conclude the group stage with a match against Iran. The Pharaohs have previously participated in the World Cup in 1934, 1990, and most recently in 2018, when Abdelrahman Fawzi scored the first Arab and African goal in the tournament's history. In the 1990 World Cup, the team achieved a historic point by drawing with the Netherlands, while Mohamed Salah scored two goals in 2018, becoming Egypt's all-time top scorer in the World Cup.
