FIFA and Diarra resolve compensation issue
The former French international Lassana Diarra has reached a settlement with FIFA after demanding 65 million euros in compensation regarding a transfer-related case. The European Court of Justice had ruled in October 2024 that the regulations concerning player transfers were "in violation" of European Union law, leading to a shake-up in the transfer system and court decisions ordering compensation and suspensions against Diarra. All legal proceedings between the two parties have been terminated without FIFA admitting any fault or paying any compensation, and Diarra's lawyer has not made any official statement.
