The Iranian Football Federation announced the cancellation of its share of tickets for the World Cup matches in America, as a protest against American measures that prevent Iranian fans from attending the matches scheduled in Los Angeles and Seattle during the group stage. The federation stated that the United States has taken actions to hinder the presence of fans, despite FIFA regulations granting each federation 8% of the tickets for their matches, raising questions about non-sporting and political interference in the organization of the tournament.
