Germany votes in key states with Alt in focus

Voters in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt are heading to the polls to elect the state parliament, with the results carrying particular significance due to the substantial rise of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which surveys indicate at 41%, compared to 24% for the Christian Democratic Union. These elections take place against the backdrop of political shifts in the country, with interest in whether the party will make a breakthrough in local government. Additional elections are also being held during the same month in the states of Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as well as municipal elections in Lower Saxony. These elections are seen as an indicator of the future political landscape in Germany.
