The Ministry of Education has revised the procedures for teaching the Kurdish language in schools, making it available as a national culture in regions with a Kurdish majority across all educational levels, with three weekly lessons incorporated into the final grade. Additionally, during the first academic year after implementation, students are allowed to choose to study social studies, history, geography, and philosophy either in Arabic or Kurdish. The ministry has also tasked the National Center for Curriculum Development with preparing Kurdish language curricula, and it will provide teachers—either from existing staff or recruited externally—who must pass tests to demonstrate their proficiency in the language.
