On Friday, August 28, 2026, Germany experienced severe thunderstorms and heavy rains that caused streets and cellars to flood, trees to fall, and damage to buildings, with train services suspended in some areas. Baden-Württemberg was among the hardest-hit regions, with flooding affecting areas such as Ludwigsburg and Bietigheim-Bissingen. Firefighting teams received approximately 100 reports, with no reports of injuries. Dust and hail damaged windows and destroyed building roofs. River crossings were closed, and transportation disruptions occurred. The storms and heavy rains were expected to continue into the night, especially in southeastern Bavaria, where rainfall could exceed 30 liters per square meter and wind speeds could reach over 120 km/h.
