The Swiss government has announced its support for a parliamentary proposal calling for the adoption of a binding plan to process the return of Syrian asylum seekers and to implement final departure decisions, especially for those who received protection due to their opposition activities against Bashar Assad's regime. Approval of this proposal is expected to lead to a review of certain asylum cases and the possibility of deportation procedures, with an emphasis on promoting voluntary return and providing financial assistance of up to 2,600 euros to those who choose to depart voluntarily. This move comes in the context of a shift in Switzerland's policy towards Syrians following a political change in Syria, with cases still being evaluated on an individual basis, taking into account security and economic circumstances. The parliament is expected to discuss the proposal for final approval, while authorities reaffirm that the possibility of returning remains unavailable to many Syrians at the moment due to the volatile security situation.
