Asian country offers £40,000 per birth

Singapore has announced a new support package for families, including financial grants of up to approximately 70,000 Singapore dollars per child over the course of their development until age 17. The goal is to address the declining birth rates, which hit historic lows at 0.87 children per woman in 2025, compared to 1.24 a decade earlier. The package includes a birth grant of 10,000 dollars, along with financial assistance, expanded parental leave for childcare, improved childcare costs, and housing support. These measures aim to reduce the financial burdens associated with raising children and to provide more consistent support regardless of birth order. The program is expected to be implemented starting April 2027, amid rising demographic challenges that threaten the country's economy, with an increasing elderly population and declining birth numbers.
