Today, Friday, Damascus witnessed an authorized protest stand in front of the People's Assembly building. It was organized by residents and farmers to demand the abolition of expropriation laws and old rental regulations, as well as to organize the rights of those harmed by previous land legislations. Participants in the protest—coinciding with Friday prayers and lasting two hours—were from the farms of Bija'a and Saboura, and they carried banners expressing rejection of unjust expropriation, calling for the return of rights and lands to their owners, and protecting private property. The slogans included calls for abolishing expropriation and old rental laws, and the protests demanded the cancellation of legislation from the Ba’ath Party era. The planned march was supposed to extend from Umayyad Square to the People's Assembly, but the permit restricted it to the stand in front of the building.
