A 19-year-old German flight student and her 24-year-old instructor were killed after a small training aircraft crashed into Lake Attersee in Upper Austria. The plane, a Tecnam P2002 JF, had taken off from Salzburg Airport on a training flight and lost contact less than half an hour into the flight before plunging into the lake. Rescue teams faced significant difficulties retrieving the wreckage and the two bodies from depths of up to 160 meters. The accident caused severe damage to parts of the aircraft, and investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause. Robots have been deployed to assist in the recovery operation.
