The Syrian Network for Human Rights highlighted the ongoing suffering of more than 177,000 people who remain forcibly disappeared in Syria since 2011, including 4,536 children and 8,984 women. Over 45,000 deaths have been recorded as a result of torture and poor detention conditions. It emphasized that the disappearance of these individuals does not end with the regime's rise or fall, and that the issue remains open, requiring systematic efforts to uncover the fates of the disappeared, protect evidence, and document mass graves. The network called for independent investigations, the necessity of holding responsible parties accountable, providing support to the families, and the urgent need to ratify the international convention to protect all individuals from enforced disappearance. It also urged to stop using the issue as a political tool, strengthen international judicial cooperation to resolve the case, and address the ongoing humanitarian suffering.
