The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives called for a campaign to assess the situation after the Syrian student Ruaa Mahmoud Sheikh Muhammad was excluded from the national high school top students list, despite achieving an average of 99.25% and ranking first in the Al-Mahrah Governorate. He considered that the exclusion due to her nationality contravenes principles of justice and equal opportunities. The advisor to the Minister of Education explained that the student is classified as a non-citizen student and is granted an independent honor list, and that her evaluation is not solely based on her results in the same manner as local students, which is a legal procedural reason. The decision by the ministry sparked national outrage and calls to review her exclusion and reassess the matter to ensure justice and equality in educational opportunities.
