Twenty-year-old Mercedes driver, Kimi Antunelli, achieved a historic victory at the Italian Grand Prix on the Monza circuit, despite starting from nineteenth position due to his team exceeding the allowed number of power unit changes. Antunelli was able to gradually climb from the back of the grid to the top spot, with his win coming after an exciting battle for the lead that saw changing positions, including overtaking his teammate George Russell four laps from the end. This marked his seventh victory of the season, further strengthening his lead in the Drivers' World Championship standings to 66 points ahead of Russell. He also became the first Italian driver to win on home soil since 1966, amid ongoing competition among Formula 1 stars.
