The Sweida Province has witnessed protests and efforts by external forces to direct public anger towards livelihood issues, such as rising vegetable prices. Local sources accuse these parties of attempting to confine the discussion to the economic crisis in order to cover up issues of corruption and extortion imposed by armed groups on traders. The sit-in centers on the vegetable issue due to its direct impact on citizens' lives and is being used as a distraction from more significant issues like armed influence and mismanagement. At the same time, there have been attempts to spread false news about road blockades and disruption of goods transportation, prompting the governor to warn against rumors that could lead to price hikes and increased suffering for residents. He called for reliance on credible sources and warned against disinformation used to push political or security agendas in the region.
