Minister of Energy Mohammed Al-Bashir issued a decision to close the vocational oil high schools in Homs, Baniyas, Deir ez-Zor, and Rmelan, as well as the Geological Vocational High School and the Mining and Metallurgy Vocational High School, starting with the 2026-2027 school year. The reason for this closure is part of a restructuring of the labor market, with vocational education being focused on other fields that are in higher demand. The statement did not specify any additional details regarding the reasons for closing these schools or any proposed alternatives.
