The head of the Constitutional Protection Agency in Thuringia stated that security agencies might limit the exchange of sensitive intelligence information if the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party takes leadership of the Saxony-Anhalt state government. This measure aims to protect secrets and sources of information. He explained that this could involve reducing the transfer of sensitive data and comes amidst the classification of the party as definitively far-right, with warnings that its access to key positions—especially the Interior Ministry—could pose a threat to espionage countermeasures and the safety of informants. It is expected that the heads of the constitutional protection agencies of German states will discuss in the coming days the possibility of the party participating in government in Saxony-Anhalt.
