More than 2,500 people in Berlin participated in protests against the victory of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the Saxony-Anhalt state elections. The demonstrators held signs opposing racism and the far-right, expressing their concern about the possibility of a government led by the party. The AfD topped the results with a clear lead over other parties, although it did not secure an absolute majority. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution considers its branch in Saxony-Anhalt to be far-right extremist. A separate protest gathering was organized in Potsdam to voice concerns about the potential impact of the election results on forming the government.
