Jeans challenge top insulation materials

Innovative techniques are being used to recycle used jeans and transform them into thermal and acoustic insulation materials for walls and ceilings, aiming to reduce textile waste and improve energy efficiency in the construction sector. This technology involves grinding worn denim fabrics and converting them into insulation mats containing approximately 80% recycled denim, which helps dispose of around 19.5 million pounds of waste annually. The insulation features a soft texture and easy installation, with high noise absorption capabilities and improved insulating performance, despite challenges related to increased weight and cost compared to traditional materials.
