Al-Halabi: Syria aims to end chemical weapons after 12 years
The Syrian delegate at the United Nations confirmed that his country has suffered from chemical weapons for more than 12 years since 2014, and that they are now working to eliminate them. He explained that the Syrian teams have been able to identify and secure chemical rockets and munitions related to the previous program, participated in 32 visits to suspected sites, and handed over more than 60,000 documents related to the program. Many individuals connected to the chemical program have also been detained. Syria’s efforts to achieve justice and cooperate with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are at the forefront, as part of supporting disarmament efforts and reducing international escalation.
