Apricot farming in Al-Qusayr faces prospects and difficulties
Al-Qusayr area in the countryside of Homs is one of the main regions producing apricots, with an estimated one million trees. The current season's production is estimated to be between 25,000 and 30,000 tons. Apricot cultivation faces several challenges, including declining sale prices, rising production costs, and the impacts of weather conditions such as frost. Additionally, weak support, the absence of external markets, and lack of industrial facilities further hinder the sector. Farmers suffer from limited capabilities and equipment, which negatively affect the sustainability of production and the development of the agricultural sector in the area.
