UN Finds Assad Weapons Documents
The United Nations has revealed that its teams discovered weapons, chemical materials, and secret documents that were previously hidden by the Assad regime. Evidence also points to some of these materials being linked to chemical attacks in 2017 and the Guta attack in 2013. Since March 2025, the organization has conducted inspections at more than 20 sites across Syria, uncovering thousands of documents and field samples, with notable cooperation from the Syrian government. The disclosure has been met with international praise, emphasizing the importance of continuing inspection and destruction efforts to hold the regime accountable and affirm Syria’s commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
