German job center staff dismissed after Bürgergeld critique
An employee at a job center in the German city of Bremen caused controversy after being dismissed from his position following his participation in a documentary film that criticized the welfare system. In the film, he argued that the system’s goal has shifted toward disbursing funds rather than helping recipients re-enter the workforce. He also pointed to cases of abuse. The city confirmed that the dismissal decision was made due to the employee's misconduct and harm to the institution's reputation, while the employee intends to challenge the decision legally.
