Stuttgart 21 delayed with added costs
The Stuttgart 21 railway project in Germany faces the possibility of a further delay, extending to the end of 2031, due to technical issues related to digitizing the city's network. The project, which began in 2010 and involves constructing an underground station and reorganizing the railway network, was originally scheduled to be completed in 2019. However, it has been delayed multiple times, and its costs have risen from €4.5 billion to €11.3 billion. Some improvements for travelers are expected to be implemented by the end of 2027, while full operation may take several more years.
