Committee: Asset Transfer Does Not Block Recovery
The Anti-Corruption Committee affirmed that transferring the ownership of suspicious assets does not prevent the state from pursuing and recovering them. The committee follows legal procedures and international priorities, such as the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, in tracking illicit funds. It emphasizes the importance of verifying the sources of assets before purchasing or investing and notes that judicial rulings related to transfer of ownership do not nullify the state's right to later scrutinize the sources of the funds or the legitimacy of the transactions. The committee underscores the need to balance the protection of individual rights with the safeguarding of public money.
