Samsung to permanently shut down messaging app
Samsung plans to definitively end support for the native "Samsung Messages" app on July 6, 2026, directing users to rely on Google Messages as the primary alternative. This move is part of a unified strategy to enhance the messaging experience on Android devices, including improved support for the RCS standard and the addition of advanced features such as high-quality photo sharing and group chats. The company recommends that users install and activate Google Messages before the final date to ensure continued messaging services.
