iPhone 18 to feature Intel chip
Apple plans to take a new step in the iPhone 18 chip supply chain. Leaks suggest that the company may start using chips manufactured by Intel instead of relying entirely on TSMC. The A20 chip is expected to be produced using Intel's 18A technology, reinforcing Apple's strategy to diversify suppliers and reduce risks associated with dependence on a single vendor, especially given the manufacturing market pressures and supply chain challenges. This move might be limited to specific editions, such as the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, while manufacturing processes for the iPhone 18 Pro are still exclusively handled by TSMC.
