Microsoft cuts 4,800 jobs in AI overhaul
Microsoft announced the layoffs of approximately 4,800 employees, which equates to about 2.1% of its workforce. The focus is on the commercial sales sector and the Xbox gaming division, where the company will lose around 1,600 employees as part of a plan to reduce roughly 20% of jobs in that section by the end of the fiscal year. These measures are part of the company's efforts to reallocate resources and update its operational models, coinciding with the impact of artificial intelligence on operational methods. Additionally, Microsoft has launched reemployment and voluntary retirement programs to reduce further layoffs.
