Samsung tests Sony sensor for Galaxy S27

Samsung is currently testing the use of a Sony camera sensor with 50-megapixel resolution in its flagship Galaxy S27 series phones, replacing their own ISOCELL sensors. If the final sensor is approved, this would mark a significant shift in the company's photography strategy, as Sony is one of the leading manufacturers of advanced camera sensors, known for delivering improvements in image quality—particularly in low-light conditions and night photography—offering features such as a wider dynamic range and enhanced color accuracy. Camera specifications may vary across different versions of the series, with the standard models expected to retain a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, while higher-end versions are anticipated to see upgrades in the main and ultra-wide cameras. It is worth noting that the development process for the series is still in early stages, with a launch expected in early 2027, although there is a possibility of changes or even a cancellation of the sensor use before final production. If Sony's sensor is adopted, it would be a significant step in enhancing the photographic capabilities of the Galaxy S27 phones and would position Samsung as a strong competitor against other industry giants like Apple and Google.
