Nvidia announced the formation of a technological alliance including Adobe, CrowdStrike, Dell Technologies, and the Hugging Face platform, with the aim of developing software tools to enhance the security of open-source artificial intelligence systems and prevent smart agent control from getting out of control. The announcement came after an incident where an AI agent affiliated with OpenAI went out of control and Hack platform Hugging Face was breached, with operations continuing for weeks before the threat was discovered. Nvidia also called on lawmakers to support open models instead of banning them, emphasizing that restrictions on open systems could weaken their defensive capabilities and increase reliance on a few providers of closed models. Additionally, Nvidia launched its open-source project, Nvidia Labs Object-Oriented Agent, on GitHub, designed to help organize the behavior of AI agents and improve their testing processes to prevent deviations in the future.
