WhatsApp updates media viewer on Android
WhatsApp has announced that it is testing a new design for the photo and video viewing interface on Android devices. The goal is to make replying and engaging with media faster and easier without having to exit full-screen mode. Users can now respond with text, record voice messages, and attach other files directly from within the full-screen view, thanks to an integrated reply bar that resembles the normal chat interface. Additionally, improvements have been made to emoji reactions: users can now choose between two default emojis or open a full emoji palette, enhancing the interaction experience with photos and videos. This feature is currently available to a limited group of beta testers on Android, with a gradual rollout planned. No official release date has been announced yet. The focus during testing is solely on the Android version, with no confirmation regarding an iOS version. This update aims to provide a smoother and faster media interaction experience while reducing the need to switch between media viewer and chat window.
