Final Android 17 update for Samsung phones
Samsung announced that 19 of its phones and devices, including the Galaxy S23 series and the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 devices, will receive the major Android 17 update, though without transitioning to a newer Android version. Support for these devices will continue with security updates for at least one year, with some possibly receiving the One UI 9.5 interface based on Android 17 without additional major upgrades. This move marks a change in the company's strategy, as Samsung has increased support for its recent devices to as many as 7 major Android updates, aiming to enhance device sustainability and longevity.
