Meta announced the launch of the open AI model Muse Glimmer, designed to handle tasks for AI agents. It is characterized by its small size and support for local operation on Mac devices and personal computers with a single graphics card, aiming to reduce regulatory constraints and boost American competition against Chinese company models. Mark Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of revisiting data policies and easing restrictions, especially as Chinese companies like Moonshot and Alibaba lead the open-weight models scene competing with major American company models. This comes amid increasing security concerns and calls to improve safety standards through stricter governance. This move is part of Meta's strategy to strengthen its position in the AI market and enhance its competitive capabilities.
