American Ford plans to expand its use of artificial intelligence by launching a smart assistant through smartphone applications for 8 million of its customers, before directly integrating it into their vehicles by 2027. The assistant, developed using large language models and based on the Google Cloud platform, provides accurate, organized responses regarding the vehicle's status, such as tire pressure, engine oil life, and maintenance schedules. It is currently available on Ford and Lincoln apps to test user interaction and improve its performance. The assistant is expected to debut in Ford vehicles starting in 2027, initially in the Fathom electric truck built on the Universal EV platform. Data collected from app usage will be used to offer a more reliable and safer driving experience. This development continues the fierce competition among automakers to incorporate artificial intelligence technologies.
