UAE: Omani flight attendant's suicide plan in Israel
The UAE Attorney General revealed that the assistant pilot of the Fly Dubai aircraft traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, a 29-year-old Omani man, had planned to carry out a terrorist attack targeting the passenger terminal at Ben Gurion Airport, aiming to cause maximum casualties. The accused began developing extremist ideas while studying in Australia in 2017 and was influenced by radical ideologies and terrorist attacks, which led him to embrace violence and contemplate executing an operation similar to the September 11 attacks using an aircraft. During the flight, the attacker unexpectedly assaulted the pilot with an emergency axe, but the pilot and security forces managed to regain control of the situation. They landed safely in Saudi Arabia. Investigations revealed that the suspect had taken two previous trips to Tel Aviv to survey the airport and had acted alone so far, with ongoing inquiries to uncover any potential accomplices or other connections, according to the Public Prosecution.
