France student protests lead to arrests and injuries
The French authorities have detained over 600 people and injured dozens of police and gendarmerie officers amid escalating student protests that began last week in the suburbs of Paris. The protests have focused on closing secondary schools, long school hours, rising temperatures inside classrooms due to heatwaves, and have included violent clashes, with security forces being pelted with projectiles and attempts to set fires. Violence and security restrictions have injured 83 security personnel, while the number of students and staff injured since the protests started has reached 119, according to the Minister of Education.
