Bizerte Sakn project advances
This article discusses the project "Sakan and Sijinan Municipality for Clean Water and Zero Waste," managed by the Tunis Office of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with two million dinars. The project's goal is to establish earthquake-resistant environmental sanitation stations in Al-Zawahiriyah neighborhood and Tamra village, where wastewater will be treated biologically and recycled. The initiative aims to preserve the quality of underground and surface water at a lower cost compared to traditional networks. Implementation is expected to begin in December 2026, with plans to provide potable water to schools and mosques by May 2027, in order to improve the environmental, social, and economic conditions in the area.
