Fly Dubai pilot shares cockpit account
A Fly Dubai aircraft was subjected to an attempted hijacking during a flight from Dubai to an unspecified destination. The copilot attacked the chief pilot and attempted to crash the plane, resulting in serious injuries to the pilot and chaos in the cockpit. The pilot, Somet Matschhar, resisted and managed to regain control after other passengers intervened, saving the lives of those onboard and preventing a catastrophe similar to the September 11 attacks. Investigations indicate that the attacker, described as a radical Islamist, may have been influenced by extremist preachers and possibly recruited in advance as part of a terrorist plot. There is speculation that he intended to target strategic objectives such as an airbase or a nuclear facility. Authorities are examining whether the attacker acted alone or as part of a larger plan, while U.S. President Donald Trump expressed doubts about possible connections between the assailant and Iran, with suspicions that the incident was orchestrated as part of a terrorist attack by radical individuals.
