Tunisians in Quebec Election Race
Two individuals of Tunisian descent are participating in the Quebec 2026 elections, scheduled for October 5. Sanae Al-Arafawi is running as a candidate for the Liberal Party in the Joliette riding. She brings over 20 years of experience in the banking and financial planning sector, with a focus on education, housing, and health. Yassin El Masrouki, 20 years old and a student at the University of Montreal, is focusing his campaign on health issues, living costs, and education. He traces his roots to Haffouz in the Kairouan region. Additionally, Ziad Al-Damrji previously participated in Quebec elections. Originally from Nabeul, Tunisia, he is one of the prominent examples of Tunisians' presence in the province's political life, whether through contesting elections or participating in voting.
