America urges Ethiopia and Eritrea to avoid conflict
The United States has warned Ethiopia and Eritrea about the escalating tensions between them, urging restraint and a return to dialogue in order to avoid a new conflict in the Horn of Africa region, which cannot withstand further military escalation or humanitarian crises. This comes amid increasing disagreements between the two countries, including Eritrea's severing of diplomatic relations with Ethiopia and mutual accusations, with concerns about the impact on peace and the region's economic prospects, especially given their proximity to the Red Sea and various regional tensions.
