France high schools close for protests
Reports highlighted the suspension of studies in 400 to 500 high schools across France on Monday, due to student protests and escalating violence and vandalism by activists, resulting in 24 institutions being damaged or set on fire. This followed events centered around demands related to a teacher shortage, study conditions, and overly tight schedules, in addition to a rise in attacks on the education sector since protests began two weeks ago. Seventy-eight education sector workers were injured, with tensions increasing and the number of arrests exceeding 1,700 so far, as the government strives to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
