The Al-Shatt Al-Rumman area in Akouda is suffering from severe environmental degradation due to high levels of sewage water, which overflows and accumulates in the surrounding areas. This causes environmental pollution and health problems for residents, especially children. Added to this is the proliferation of illegal waste dumps, reptiles, and insects such as mosquitoes and sandflies, which attack residents and pose health risks, including bites that affect newborns. The community is also facing weak infrastructure and lacks effective interventions to address this crisis, exacerbating their suffering amid rising temperatures and worsening environmental conditions. There are no temporary solutions in place to effectively drain sewage water or improve the area's environmental situation.
