Tunisian residents in Europe in 2025
Eurostat data reveals that Tunisians were among the most present Maghrebi communities in Europe, with approximately 450,000 valid residence permits for Tunisian citizens at the end of 2025. There is a significant concentration in France (over 312,000 permits) and Italy (about 138,000 permits). Together, France and Italy account for around 70% of all Tunisian permits, reflecting strong historical, economic, and familial ties with these two countries. In contrast, the number of residence permits for Moroccans in the European Union exceeds 2.2 million, indicating a substantial presence, primarily in France and Spain. This larger number compared to Tunisians is due to the larger Moroccan community in Europe.
