White-spotted sea slugs appear on Tunisian beaches
A large number of "white-spotted jellyfish" have been observed along the Tunisian shores. This is an invasive species from the Pacific Ocean that is increasingly appearing due to maritime transport. This proliferation poses a threat to the marine food chain, as they feed on zooplankton, which are a primary food source for other marine organisms, potentially putting pressure on marine food resources. They are not highly dangerous to humans, but their presence can be concentrated and may hinder fishing activities. They are characterized by a rounded, transparent bell with white spots, reaching a diameter of approximately 50 cm. The association has urged citizens to report any sightings of these creatures to support monitoring their spread and the impact they may have on the marine ecosystem.
