Social transfer spending up 24.1% in early 2026
The government's expenses on social transfers increased by 24.1% during the first half of 2026, reaching 2,221 million dinars, with a completion rate of 47.6% of the allocated budgets for 2026. These transfers aim to promote social justice, reduce poverty, and support national solidarity programs and social housing through funding university grants, school aid, and assistance to low-income groups and local communities. These policies are aligned with the state's leadership directions and are part of a plan to strengthen the social role of the state, focusing on income distribution improvement, financial sustainability, and addressing global economic challenges. This includes supporting agricultural production and investing in renewable energy to counteract energy price volatility and supply chain disruptions.
