Survivor of execution returned to prison
American Krista Pike survived an execution attempt in Tennessee after receiving two injections during the procedure, as her execution attempt failed, and she was detained at the Deborah Johnson Rehabilitation Center upon returning from the hospital. Pike, who was 18 years old when she committed the murder of her classmate out of jealousy, was set to become the first woman to be executed in the state in nearly 200 years. The failed execution led to the resignation of Tennessee's prison director, and Pike continues to receive medical care inside the prison.
