Tunisia Outperforms Algeria and Libya in Hunger Index
The 2025 World Hunger Relief Organization report indicates that despite being a non-oil country facing energy sector challenges, Tunisia outperforms Algeria and Libya on the Global Hunger Index. Tunisia ranks 33rd worldwide with a very low score of 6.2 points, ahead of Algeria, which is in 38th place with a score of 7.1 points, and Libya, which is in 69th place with a score of 13.9 points. This success is attributed to Tunisia's sustainable social policies and robust healthcare infrastructure, which invest early in combating stunting and safeguarding food security. It demonstrates that good governance and sustainable development yield better results than reliance on oil revenues and market fluctuations.
