France protesters burn Limoges town hall
A serious escalation occurred in the city of Limoges, western France, after protesters set fire to its historic town hall building. They stormed the building and destroyed its contents, including setting four police cars on fire and vandalizing the basement, which led to the flames spreading to the building's wooden ceiling. These events are part of a widespread nationwide wave of protests that began with student demonstrations over education conditions and teacher shortages, and later evolved into protests against rising living costs and the declining quality of public services. The authorities faced significant challenges in controlling the situation amid large gatherings and heightened security tensions.
